From 1870 to today
Molino Sapignoli
In 1870, Molino Sapignoli was founded in Poggio Berni, in the province of Rimini, as a traditional rural water mill with stone grinding wheels. Today, it has been transformed into the Museum of Milling Art. In 1934, we moved to Calisese di Cesena, where we still operate today, pouring care and passion into every grain we process.
Today, it’s Cristina, Luca, and Piera who carry on this family tradition. Our family has dedicated its life to producing high-quality flours, passing down the art of milling from generation to generation. Every day, we work with love and dedication, respecting our land and using only 100% Romagnolo grains to produce flours that tell the story of our heritage and values.
At Molino Sapignoli, everything revolves around care and artisanal quality. We carefully select each grain of wheat, and thanks to our slow and dedicated milling process, we preserve the authentic flavor and all the nutritional properties of our flours. We never stop improving: every day, we strive to get better, collaborating with local farmers and adopting increasingly sustainable practices to protect the environment.

Our commitment to the environment
Here are 10 things we do to respect the environment
Sustainable
agriculture
We only work with farmers who use sustainable farming practices, also offering organic flours for those seeking greener options.
Circular
economy
To produce our flours, we use only Romagnolo or, at most, Italian grains. Choosing flours like ours, made from “traditional grains, grown and processed in our region” supports our local producers and promotes a sustainable food system because “that flour embodies work, the economy, and environmental care” (Food for Climate).
Zero
waste
No by-product goes to waste. We use what we can and allocate the rest to animal feed, ensuring a complete resource cycle.
Innovating
for the future
To reduce waste and pollution, we have taken a significant step toward modernization. With a modern, automated plant, we aim to go even further. Our goal is not only to purchase more modern facilities but also to install solar panels, demonstrating our commitment to a more sustainable and low-carbon future.
Quality
over quantity
We reject partnerships that compromise the quality of our flours in favor of quantity.
Reducing
environmental impact
We use green gas: the CO2 emissions we generate are offset through certified investments in climate protection projects (compliant with Gold Standard and/or Voluntary Carbon Standard).
Renewable
energy
We adopt green energy, that is, clean electricity sourced 100% from renewable energy sources.
Reducing
plastic use
We strive to reduce the use of plastic packaging.
Waste
disposal
We believe that small actions lead to big changes. Every day, we work to produce as little waste as possible and to dispose of it responsibly and thoughtfully, knowing that every single action counts on the path to a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
Earth
love
It is our love for the land that drives us to improve and respect it more each day.
